The 3456 N & W (Norfolk & Western) operating hopper was the only operating hopper produced by
Lionel in the postwar years. It was made to be used with the 456 Coal Ramp. To fill a 3456 hopper,
you could use one of several accessories such as the 97, 397 or 497 coaling stations. However,
unloading this hopper could only be accomplished with the 456 Coal Ramp. Standard features of a
3456 hopper includes: staple-end trucks for 1950 and 1951 and bar-end trucks from 1952 until 1955,
two operating couplers, black body, white lettering plus a single brake wheel. On the bottom of the 3456 was a special unloading apparatus. As mentioned earlier, this freight car can only be unloaded from the 456 Coal Ramp.

	6+	$60.00	Available for sale is a complete, fully functional operating hopper. This version is the later style with bar-end trucks. The exterior colors and lettering are in decent condition and there is nothing broken, damaged nor cracked on the freight car.
	7+	$90.00	Up for sale is an extremely clean, great-looking operating hopper from the early 1950's. This freight car has staple-end trucks and pristine exterior lettering that's not faded nor worn. There is no rust on the truck plates nor trucks.
	7+	$ 99.00	Here's an extremely clean operating hopper with a nice black exterior and clean, crisp side lettering. This is a later version hopper with bar-end trucks. The hopper has been tested and works properly.
	7+	$110.00	This is an operating hopper from the final year of production: 1955. The hopper has bar-end trucks with tab couplers. Also included is the original inspection tag! The exterior is in pristine condition and the lettering is nice, white and in perfect condition.
