6472 Refrigerator Car is a non-operating version of Lionel's highly successful 3472 operating milk car. Both cars share many of the same parts and in most cases the parts are fully interchangeable between the cars. The 6472 was introduced in 1950 with the following features: unpainted white shell with black lettering, staple-end operating trucks, metal footsteps at each corner plus opening doors and a single brake wheel. As the production cycle evolved, so did the changes.
Listed below are the changes in year order:

• 1950 - Introduced as listed above.
• 1951 - Footsteps eliminated at each corner.
• 1952 - Bar-end trucks replaced the staple-end trucks. The car ran unchanged in 1952 and                      1953.

Additional Detail

  1950- Includes footsteps at all four corners. This is the hardest version to locate.
  1951 - Footsteps eliminated, continued to use staple-end trucks.
  1952 - Bar-end trucks replace the staple-end versions. This is the most common version.

	8	$ 51.00		Here's the 1950 version of the refrigerator car with all four complete corner steps. This freight car is pristine, extremely clean and there are no signs of fading nor aging. The lettering is crisp and clean and the frame is free of rust and oxidation.
	10/OB	$135.00		Up for sale is a brand new, never used refrigerator box car. The wheels are unrun, the exterior white box car box is vibrant and the lettering is crisp. There's certainly no signs of rust nor oxidation! Also included is the original inspection tag.
	10/OB	$140.00		Up for sale is a brand new, never used, truly Mint refrigerator box car from the early 1950's. This one is nice and white and shows no signs of fading nor aging. Also included is the original inspection tag and a complete, solid original box.
